Dace Baltina has experience in oncology since 1983 when after graduating Riga Medical Institute she started her career as a researcher at the Laboratory of Medical Treatment of Cancer at the Latvian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine. Alongside with scientific work Dace Baltina has worked also as a physician in different cancer hospitals, has been an expert at the State Agency of Drugs and a member of different working groups at the Ministry of Health. Dace Baltina also works with medical students teaching oncology at the Department of Internal Diseases. Her interest is in the history of medicine and in 2017 she was conferred on the highest award in medicine in Latvia – Paul’s Stradins award for her unique book on history of oncology in Latvia. Dace Baltina has written numerous books and articles. She is enthusiastic book reader, traveler and is clever with her needle. She is a family woman and has three children and three grandchildren.
